Continuous Bias Tape Calculator
Calculate yards or meters yielded from any fabric square
Continuous Tape Yield:
4.05 yards
Total Linear Length:
145.8 in
Estimated 45° Seam Joins:
9 seams
Tip: Cutting strips along the 45° true bias enables woven fabrics to bend smoothly around curved edges like circle skirt hems, armholes, and necklines.
Quick Reference & Instructions
Determining Strip Cut Width
- Double Fold Tape (1/2" / 1.2 cm finished): Cut strips at 2 inches (5 cm).
- Single Fold Tape (1/2" / 1.2 cm finished): Cut strips at 1 inch (2.5 cm).
- Double Fold Tape (1/4" / 0.6 cm finished): Cut strips at 1 inch (2.5 cm).
The Math Formula
• Total Area = Side × Side
• Usable Length = (Total Area ÷ Strip Width) × 0.90
• Yield = Length ÷ 36 (yards) or Length ÷ 100 (meters)
• Usable Length = (Total Area ÷ Strip Width) × 0.90
• Yield = Length ÷ 36 (yards) or Length ÷ 100 (meters)
